 "Gifts of Love and Cost"

Today's scripture: Matthew 2:1-12

We don't know how many there were, or exactly when they came, nor do we know how they came. The Bible simply tells us that the Wiseman had "seen his star in the East", and came to worship him. Though there are a lot of things we don’t know about the Wiseman...we do know that their worship consisted of gift giving.

The first gift the Wiseman brought was (the gift of gold). (Gold) means many things to many people, but one thing everyone agrees on is that (gold) means (money).

The second gift the Wiseman brought to Jesus was (frankincense). (Frankincense) was a type of incense burned in Temple worship by the Jewish priests. With this gift the Wiseman were saying to Jesus, "We not only recognize that you are (king), but you are also (priest)".

And that brings us to the third gift, the gift of (myrrh). This was the Wiseman's (prophetic) gift, for (myrrh) is the gift for one who is (to die).

This Christmas, what gift will you bring to Jesus? Want to see a twinkle in God’s eye this holy season? Would you like to please Him? The one gift He wants you. Your whole person. Your self. Hebrews 11:6 says, "...without faith it is impossible to please him.”
